Ski Apache Arrow!

Friday was the grand opening of the brand new Gondola at Ski Apache!
It is Awesome!
It is fully automatic and sooooo quiet! Twice as fast and twice as many people.
Nothing like it in the states, that I know of!
I love to ride it in the summer...beautiful scenery!

Mr. Snead's house

A man, Mr. Snead, asked Jimmy to Spray foam insulate his new house.....a job referred to us by our plumber Josh. (thanks Josh). He has now told his neighbor, who had someone else do his house and it is really poorly done, so he wants Jimmy to come "fix it".....sigh....
I fear it'll be March before I'm in my house.!!!

Texas friends!

Our very sweet friends, from McAllen, Tx. drove all the way here, to spend the New Year with us, and it snowed just for them!
We had a great time.....went to Winterpark, so they could go tubing, saw "Parental Guidance" (a really cute movie) and generally just enjoyed spending time together. Randy, Lynette and Regina.
Regina even made snow angels!

Christmas 2012!

Well, my brother, Ty, his girlfriend of many years, her son and wife and Gloria came up around the 21st of December. We had a nice Christmas in the clubhouse, then Jimmy took Mark (Sandie's son) skiing! We got to see the new Gondolas being set up....not in use, yet, and some pretty scenery.

Flooring!

Wednesday was Jimmy's day off, so we spent the entire day running around. First was Arizona Tile to look at the granite slabs and get ideas for the bathrooms. Then to Direct Buy to order my bathroom cabinets. We have already received the kitchen cabinets and were very pleased.
Then we went to a place to look at Solar Panels, Jimmy needed to ask them about the conduit requirements, etc. Next was American Clay...a wall treatment alternative to paint...cool stuff! Then back to Direct Buy to finish ordering the cabinets and look at some carpeting and window blinds.
I was pretty tired after all day running, so going back to the bus after picking up dinner at Taco Cabana was fine for me!
Tomorrow is the last day of classes so we plan to be back in Alto by evening.

Road Trip....

We are in Albuquerque all week....Jimmy has classes to get ready for his Contractor's license. Wednesday, he's off, so we have an appointment at Direct Buy, to order my bathroom cabinets. Jay and Donald are taking care of the spray foaming of the house while we are here this week. Hopefully, the sheetrock will start being put up next week. I spent the day recuperating from a bad 24hr. bug, and cleaning the bus....but actually, I have needed to go through and throw out a lot of stuff.

New Floor

Here's the new floor. Jimmy ordered a sample box, so that we could see how it looks with the furniture and the kitchen cabinets. The pallet - full of flooring is in El Paso, JJ, will be picking it up for us and bringing it here.

Foam Insulating the deck!

Well....after the races, we hotfooted it back to New Mexico, because they were supposed to deliver the flooring, and they were going to be pouring the concrete on the balcony. I wanted to be there, to make sure they got the colors right. Since there was so much activity at the house, Jimmy decided that they would go down the hill and spray foam insulate the deck. What a mess! but, it really soundproofed and sealed it up....no cold wind....Jay even craweled under the floor and sealed it!

Saturday was the Nationwide series race and the fly over was really impressive....
there were 15 planes, all had smoke trails of red, white and blue!
Sunday's fly over was a B-52...what a gas!Big.ol' lumbering plane flying slow, over the track!

Truck Race night!

Met with "family" Chris and Chandra Vanderkolk.....Chandra (Chris' daughter) is married to the crew chief for #13, Johnny Sauter and got a tour of the hauler for Thorsports (the team owner) and a visit to the pits! Jimmy and I had gone to eat at Babe's (best fried chicken in the world!) and brought the crew, etc . several chicken dinners the night before, during practice.......guess what?
WINNER,WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER! #13 won the race on Friday night!!
such fun! Great to see the baby girl I babysat in the 70's! and Chris is a "sorta" big brother.

Texas Motor Speedway Fall 2012

Eddie Gossage, the manager of the track, really outdid himself, this year, and had an entire "Wild Asphalt Circus". He had a carnival set up, right next to the track and various acts around the track. Even the motorcycle that goes around in a cage!

Barrel ceiling

I saw a neat ceiling in a picture, so I decided that we needed it!
Jimmy was sawing the curved pieces and Jay and Donald were putting all the blocking up, Lucille and I watched!
It is basically a barrel ceiling, but has 4 big beams running through it towards the kitchen area. The ceiling drops from 12 to 11 to 10 feet in the kitchen, so it appears that the beams disappear into the ceiling. Pretty cool!
