Pinetop carshow and fly-in 2012

Today was another day in paradise....beautiful day, in the 70s, so we got the '69 Olds out of the neighbor's garage and drove to the Sierra Blanca airport for the "planes, trains and automobiles" show!
It was a very enjoyable day, saw several people from out of town, even El Paso!

Exhausted Rufous hummingbird

Now that the windows are in....a poor little hummingbird got in and couldn't figure out how to get out of the house. He kept flying back and forth in the window...he was so exhausted that Jimmy caught him.....he rested a little then after about 10 seconds, flew away!

Skunkface!

Thursday night, as we were walking to the Coach to go to bed, Nikki decided to chase a skunk!
Soooooo,
Jimmy headed to Walmart at 10:00 pm to by all the stuff we needed to "de-skunk" her. Thank goodness it was only a glancing blow, down the side of her face to her shoulder...no eyes!
If anyone needs the recipe....here it is:
the first thing you do is act fast....don't let it dry out.
2-3 teaspoons of Dawn dishwashing liquid....its better than off brands. 1/2 cup of baking soda and 2 pints of hydrogen peroxide. For little dogs, cut in half.
We used a wash mitt and scrubbed her. Also, don't let it get on your skin or clothes!
Then bathed her in her normal shampoo.
Then the magic......
Buy the pink Massengill at the store...mix 4 oz. with 2 gallons of water, pour it all over the dog and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse really well.
I swear it works there's NO TRACE of smell on her.
I have friends who didn't use tha Massengill, the dog doesn't smell....until it gets wet, like rain....then its back, weeks later!
