Fireplaces and windows!
Skunkface!
Thursday night, as we were walking to the Coach to go to bed, Nikki decided to chase a skunk!
Soooooo,
Jimmy headed to Walmart at 10:00 pm to by all the stuff we needed to "de-skunk" her. Thank goodness it was only a glancing blow, down the side of her face to her shoulder...no eyes!
If anyone needs the recipe....here it is:
the first thing you do is act fast....don't let it dry out.
2-3 teaspoons of Dawn dishwashing liquid....its better than off brands. 1/2 cup of baking soda and 2 pints of hydrogen peroxide. For little dogs, cut in half.
We used a wash mitt and scrubbed her. Also, don't let it get on your skin or clothes!
Then bathed her in her normal shampoo.
Then the magic......
Buy the pink Massengill at the store...mix 4 oz. with 2 gallons of water, pour it all over the dog and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse really well.
I swear it works there's NO TRACE of smell on her.
I have friends who didn't use tha Massengill, the dog doesn't smell....until it gets wet, like rain....then its back, weeks later!

My Roof Arrives!!!

The roof trusses finally arrived! Can't believe they got it all on one truck. It's like a giant erector set......8 trusses bundled together, 12 bundled, etc. they go to different places on the house. The trailer they came in on was fascinating...it had rollers and the driver slowly pulled up then backed up fast, slammed into the trailer and the wood started rolling off. Then he hit a button that started lifting the front end and the rest rolled off as he pulled forward......gentle as could be!
Turkey trot!

Preparing for the roof!
Jimmy,Donald, another neighbor, and the framers were preparing the porch for the roof trusses, due in on Tuesday. Had to have a small crane place the 38' beam in place, so Jimmy could weld the upstairs steel posts to it. By the way, I had to buy Jimmy some suspenders....his pants keep falling off! haha!

17 steel support posts for the balcony!

Jimmy, JR and our neighbor AD (who did most of the welding) finally got all the steel tubing in place and are now putting the I-beams in place for the balcony. For those of you that think this is overkill....Jimmy decided that he wanted the balcony to have the same stained, stamped concrete as the porch, down below. 4" of concrete presents a whole new weight issue, so we had to have it re-engineered! (sigh)

looking like a house!

The house grows......

The bus garage is up and they're working on the top floor! (the main floor) in my "upside down" house!
All that's downstairs is a couple of guest rooms and a living area. The upstairs has the Master, another guest room, kitchen, great room, Jimmy's office, laundry, the garages, etc. And the kitchen has an all glass floor to ceiling 15' door that opens out onto the deck....pretty cool!
The container arrives!

In the meantime, JJ, Jimmy's Godson, borrowed the 45"flatbed trailer from the local sheriff, and went to Fort Worth and got our container full of furniture and "stuff". It was a real "squeeze" to get it through the Woodwinds.....a fact that is my point exactly!! A moving van couldn't get through there!
