Loma Grande Drainage!

After the Fire, the rains came! Our friend A.D. and Jimmy went up to John's ranch, Loma Grande and re-diverted the water with his backhoe and bulldozer, so it wouldn't take out the ranch house. The fire got the barns, burned snowmobiles, sleigh and wagon....no animals thank goodness!

Monsoon season starts.....

After the Little Bear fire...they have been clearing out all the drainage areas and making holding areas for the flooding that is happening after the terrible burn scar. The top left picture was taken 20 minutes before the top right picture! The water is black and full of soot....they are trying to keep it separate from our lakes etc. Now I know how California feels.

Starting on the upstairs!

Phillip and his crew are starting on the upstairs, framing! The yellow thing below (in the picture) is what they use to shoot into the concrete. (22 bullets) The blue tool, in the middle, is for screwing the boards into the beams....they walk along and screw them in while standing upright....neat, huh?

Dark Shadows

 Just went and saw Dark Shadows. Johnny Depp was great as Barnabas Collins (he does weird guys SO well!)
If you are a fan of the TV show, years ago as I was....you'll "get it". Dr. Julia was an older, not attractive woman, on the TV show...and the mother was actually Joan Bennett, the film actress...on the TV show.
Willie Loomis, Barnabas' sidekick, in the movie, was Jackie Earle Haley, recently on the TV show Human Target.And....of all things......Alice Cooper (the musician) did a cameo appearance!

Jimmy's putting green is finally finished and Shadow's newest, "funest"game is beating the golf ball to the hole! He's pretty amazing, whatever angle you aim....he adjusts his stance! Pretty funny!

Hummingbirds won't wait.......pretty cool!

My Garden Tower

I have started an Aeroponic Garden. Lettuce and tomatoes to start with....just planted....2 weeks seedlings!
It has a water reservoir in the bottom and pumps the water to the top and waterfallsback to the bottom, feeding the plants. I'll post pictures as it grows!
Can't wait!

Laying the tubing for the Radiant Floor...

Jimmy, along with our neighbor, Mr. Cox, just finished the downstairs portion of the tubing for the heated floor.....now it's pressure testing, pouring the slab, and then hopefully the framing starts soon!

Don't know if Jimmy's shirt attracted them, or if they were just really hugry, but the Hummingbirds are not waiting for dinner! 

Thundersquirrel and Chubbo the ground squirrel

This is so cute!
Thundersquirrel, a small tree squirrel that we have adopted and even have a house for, has run across this Chubbo....a ground squirrel twice his size! Whenever he gets too close, he chases him off! I can't imagine why a huge critter would be afraid of a small one, except that he doesn't go in the trees, at all.
Thundersquirrel is very territorial!!
 

Happy Mother's Day!

The picture's fuzzy and lighting bad, but Mother's Day brunch was yummy, then we went to see "The Avengers"! I love Robert Downey, Jr.! Fun movie!
